There's the Rimu Track at Pureora Forest; the Whirinaki Loop Track in the Whirinaki Forest; Lake Tikitapu in Rotorua

The Nature-Culture Walk sets out from one of these stunning Central North Island locations:

Tauhara Mountain is located just 5 minutes drive from Taupo Town Centre - This 1.5 hour walk to the summit boasts magnificent views of the region with the 3 peaks of Tongariro, Ruapehu, & Ngauruhoe as a backdrop

 

Lake Rotopounamu Track - Rotopounamu track winds through outstanding native forest to the secluded and picturesque white sands of the lake is found in Tongariro National Park - just south of Turangi.  Duration 3.5 hours

 

Rimu Track - Rimu track follows the Kakaho Stream through dense rimu forest before climbing to an expansive viewing point.  In the Pureora Forest Park, northwest of Lake Taupo.  Duration 3 hours

 

Whirinaki River Road Loop Track - walk through the forest to the Whirinaki River then continue along the river with Mt Moerangi to your left and through the densest podocarp forest found in NZ to the beautiful Whirinaki Falls.  The Whirinaki River Road loop track is a longer walk.  Duration 4-6 hours

 

Transport to and from the bushwalk locations is not included

Each guided tour includes:

  • Professional Guiding - by local Maori guides
  • Interpretaion of the flora & fauna delivered in a unique style
  • Storytelling - Hear stories of the living landscapes, the people, and the traditions
  • Some catering is provided. Organic and indigenous Maori food options are available
  • Cultural Activity – Weave or carve something to take home.
