The Go Bush cabin is situated close to the world heritage Tongariro National Park and is located right alongside the upper Whanganui River. The journey into the lodge offers spectacular views of the Central North Island Mountains.
The Go Bush cabin is only accessible by four wheel drive vehicle, horse, foot or helicopter. This is a true wilderness adventure, but without missing out on the comforts of home. Enjoy hot showers, hot food, cool drinks, warm company and a hot fire.
Accommodation at Go Bush cabin is made up of one room with bunk and single bed, one double room, and two separate cabins with two single beds in each. There are two showers and two toilets.
Your experience will include:
- Professional guiding - Our hosts are Maori who have a love for nature and the whenua/land and eagar to share their experiences with you
- Meals & Beverages - We will bring everything to eat, and some special treats. Contemporary foods infused with indigenous flavors
- Hangi experience - have a hangi meal, prepare it? cook it? serve it? or just eat it!
- Bedding & Bathroom - All you need is your toothbrush
- Campfire in the evening and toast marshmallows Storytelling – hear the stories about our living landscapes, the people, and the traditions
- Nature-Culture Walk- Includes interpretation of how Maori utilised the forest resources
- Cultural activities – Weaving and carve something to take home
- Hunting, fishing, horse riding, 4x4 Quads/Jeeps can be arranged for the adventurous
- Feed the pet eels and see rare birdlife, such as the endangered whio whio/blue ducks
